Reverse Journal Entries

Sometimes accrual entries are made into an accounting period that need to be reversed in the next accounting period. The Reverse Journal Entries Module step allows you to automatically reverse a batch a journal entries. If you need to reverse a journal entry, you must make sure that all the journal entries in that batch are going to be reversal entries.

The G/L Journal Entry Reversal form will be displayed. Enter the range of dates the journal entries you want to reverse are dated.  The scroll box will list all batch of journal entries in the selected period.  Select the batch number you wish to reverse and then press [OK].  The G/L Journal Entries Reversals form will be displayed.

After reviewing the batch of journal entries, press [Reverse] if you want to reverse the batch of journal entries.  You will confirm that you want to reverse the entries. Enter the date you want the reversing entries updated to and then press [OK].

Note: If you need to reverse only some of the journal entries entered in a single batch, you will need to make a reversing journal entry through the Journal Entry Module step from the General Ledger Module - Data Entry "Ribbon".
