Payroll calculates and maintains payroll and labor distribution. It determines employer and employee Social Security and Medicare, federal tax, state tax for all 50 states and may be modified for local taxes. This module calculates gross earnings for regular hours, overtime hours and salaries. It prints vacation, regular payroll and supplemental checks such as bonus checks and termination checks.
Payroll allows for user-defined deductions by employee and supports pre-tax deductions for pension plans, cafeteria plans, IRAs, Keoghs and 401(k)s.
Additional features include the availability of W-2's on paper in the IRS-required format and time card entry for hourly employees.
There may be some payroll reports that your company might require but are not included. The information needed to generate these reports is saved in the system. If you need assistance developing additional reports, please contact eTEK International or your consultant or reseller.
An employee's payroll may consist of any combination of the following types of entries: standard earnings, standard deductions, time card entries, one-time earnings, both taxable and non-taxable earnings and one-time deductions.
The Payroll module uses two dates when writing paychecks, the Pay Period End Date and the Check Date. The Pay Period End Date is the last working day the employee is being paid for. The Check Date is the actual date the checks are dated.
Payroll is accrued based upon the dates entered. The wages and employer-paid taxes are expensed based upon the pay period end date. The bank, deductions and employee-paid taxes are expenses based upon the check date. The general ledger number where the payroll is accrued is stored in the Company Profile.
