Add Job Cost Records
The Add Job Cost Records Module step is used to create the actual job cost records you will want to use throughout the system when you enter various accounting transactions like AP Invoices, AR Invoices and labor hours in Payroll.
This is the step where you tell the system the most detailed level of record keeping you want to use to estimate and track actual job costs for a given project and/or job. These are the records you want to define that you can select at any time later to charge material, equipment, labor . . . etc. against as work on the job is accomplished. During the process of creating your job cost records, you will be prompted to assign an address for the applicable site. For example, you may have a project that consists of multiple jobs and the site address is different for one of the jobs. The system allows you to make these site address assignments the way you like. In general, however, it is a good idea to keep the site addresses at the highest level possible to avoid confusion.
This new form allows you to create new projects, jobs, cost centers, and/or tasks by using previously defined structures for your overall job cost number. Enter the new number and description you want to use as required then select the pre-existing template to use. Note on the new setup form that you can setup new addresses, choose how you want to apply burden and overheads, as well as choosing to carry forward form the template you select whether of not your new job is a certified job or not. Call eTEK support if you have any questions.
If the number you want to use for project, job, cost code or task is not displayed in the drop down list, just enter the number and press return to add a new number and description.
